We collect anonymous usage data. However, we'll never collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Also, we never collect the questions you ask nor the answers you get.
There's always a tradeoff. In this case it's privacy vs sending data to a server.
Larger LLMs either won't fit on your device or will take too much storage, starving out the space for other apps. We opted for a Small Language Model (SLM) which isn't as powerful.

Back in the days before the Web, there used to be sites called Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) that individuals and companies ran for hobby and customer service. The way to connect to them was over a telephone line. However, the problem with telephone lines is that they're analog, where computers are digital. So, we used devices, called Modems, to translate between analog and digital communications. Modem is short for Modulator-Demodulator. Compared to today's Internet, modems were very slow, just like Modem AI. Over time, modems continually increased in speed as their technology got better. However, the Web was created and the Internet took off and the rest is history.
